Restoration of the bandstand - Habscht Parish
A heritage to be preserved
The historic black-and-white photograph reminds us of what this bandstand looked like in its heyday: an elegant octagonal wrought-iron structure, adorned with finely crafted scrolls and columns, which set the pace of village life. The signposts pointing towards Eischen and Arlon, visible in the period photograph, bear witness to its role as a landmark at the heart of the community.
A project requiring precision
The restoration involved meticulous work to recreate the structure exactly as it was. Every element of the metal framework was designed, manufactured and assembled with the utmost care, in accordance with traditional metal construction techniques. The octagonal steel roof, the decorative ironwork, the cast-iron columns and the wrought-iron balustrade sections have been faithfully reproduced from the original model.
The interior vault, whose panels radiate out from the central ridge, perfectly illustrates the metalworker’s craftsmanship: precise geometry serving a timeless aesthetic.
An anchor in modernity
Reinstalled on a new platform of cut stone, surrounded by landscaping currently being finalised, the bandstand now fits into a contemporary setting whilst retaining its old-world charm. It has become a living space and a gathering place for the residents of the municipality of Habscht, a living bridge between the past and the future.
A shared pride
This restoration project is much more than a simple construction site: it is a reaffirmation of a deep attachment to local heritage and Luxembourgish craftsmanship. It bears witness to the ability of the metalworking trades to endure through the centuries, combining tradition with technical excellence
